A fence is a symbol of separation. Throughout history it has been a fence that separated society be it physically, geographically or socially. Let’s talk about the topic and theme of Biennale: “How we will live together?” Let’s name it from the very first step. What is it that separates us? What keeps us away from the state that we strive for?
OFF FENCE installation placement manifests the separation phenomenon. We chose to confront. We partition the path. We prompt the visitor to act. We transform the obstacle to an impulse. An impulse of change.
